Skylark Bowling Center: San Antonio’s Lackland AFB Bowling Alley
If you’re searching for Skylark Bowling Center in San Antonio, there’s one detail worth knowing before you plan a visit: it sits on Lackland Air Force Base, which means access works differently than at a typical public bowling alley. Here’s what the center offers and who can walk through the door.
Where It’s Located
Skylark Bowling Center is at 1610 Luke Boulevard, Building 6476, on Joint Base San Antonio–Lackland, San Antonio, TX 78236. It’s one of three bowling centers run by JBSA’s Force Support Squadron, alongside the Fort Sam and Randolph locations. You can reach the center directly at (210) 671-1234.
Who Can Bowl There
This is the part general visitors often miss. Skylark is open to valid DoD ID cardholders and their guests, not the general public walking in off the street. Civilian groups of 10 or more can call ahead to request a sponsored pass, which makes it workable for larger outside parties, but it does require planning in advance rather than a spontaneous drop-in.
Hours
Hours vary by day, so check before you head over:
- Monday: Closed
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday: 11 AM – 10 PM
- Thursday: 11 AM – 8 PM
- Friday: 11 AM – 11 PM
- Sunday: 11 AM – 6 PM
The on-site Ten Pin Café closes one hour before the bowling center does.
Lanes and Amenities
The center runs 32 lanes with automatic scoring, and the lanes, approaches, and ball return equipment have been through renovation work in the past. Beyond standard open bowling, the center features:
- Cosmic bowling every Saturday night, 5–9 PM, with blacklight and music
- Karaoke nights
- Ten Pin Café for food and drinks between frames
- League play that runs throughout the year for different skill levels and schedules

Parties, Leagues, and Kids’ Bowl Free
Skylark hosts birthday parties and team-building events with lane reservations, shoe rental, and food or beverage packages bundled in—groups of 15 or more need to make arrangements in advance. Families can also sign up through the Kids Bowl Free program, which gives registered kids two free games all summer long (shoe rental purchased separately, and the offer is specific to this location).
