Ron Reiter, Co-Founder & CTO of Sentra

Ron Reiter is the co-founder and chief technology officer of Sentra, a cloud data security company he built to help organizations discover, classify, and protect sensitive data across complex cloud environments. As CTO, he leads Sentra’s technical vision and engineering direction, drawing on more than two decades of hands-on experience across cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, data engineering, and machine learning.

From Curiosity to Cybersecurity

Ron’s path into technology started early. He was writing code before the age of ten, and by his teenage years in Israel he had moved from curious tinkering into hands-on hacking, an experience he has since described openly in interviews as formative to how he thinks about security. That early curiosity led him into the Israel Defense Forces’ Unit 8200, the country’s renowned military intelligence unit known for producing a large share of Israel’s cybersecurity talent. His time there sharpened both his technical skills and his instincts for how attackers think, instincts that continue to shape Sentra’s approach to protecting customer data today.

A Track Record of Building and Scaling Companies

Before founding Sentra, Ron co-founded and served as VP of R&D at Crosswise, a cross-device identity and analytics company that was acquired by Oracle in 2016. That exit gave him a front-row seat to how large enterprises think about data, scale, and security, lessons he carried directly into Sentra’s founding vision.

Ron has also been an active seed investor and advisor to the startup ecosystem, backing and supporting companies including Axonius, Firefly, Guardio, Talon Cyber Security, and Lightricks. This breadth of experience across founding, building, and investing gives him a wide-angle view of where cybersecurity and cloud infrastructure are headed.

Building Sentra

At Sentra, Ron oversees the engineering organization and product architecture, with a particular focus on helping security and data teams keep pace with the explosion of cloud data. He has spoken publicly about the discipline required to run a growing engineering team, noting that being too focused on reaching goals is not a good approach to entrepreneurship, a philosophy that shapes how he balances product ambition with sustainable execution.

He describes himself as someone who is still, at his core, a builder: someone who is happiest writing code and solving hard technical problems, even while managing the broader demands of running a company’s technology strategy.

Education and Background

Ron studied at Reichman University (IDC Herzliya) before going on to spend 15-plus years in senior technical and managerial roles spanning data engineering, cybersecurity, and cloud infrastructure, experience that now underpins Sentra’s product and engineering strategy.
